The Cleveland Theater Collective and the Tri-C West Theater Department present a solo performance workshop.

Susan Merson, author of YOUR NAME HERE: An Actor/Writers Guide to Solo Performance, will be at the Tri-C West Theater Auditorium located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd. Parma Ohio, on June the 8th from 7:00-10:00 pm offering a workshop on solo performance for actors, writers, and public speakers of all kinds.

This workshop is open to everyone.  It is free to CTC members and Tri-C students. All others will be charged $10.00 at the door.

Explore the basic elements of the solo play with hands on writing and acting exercises allowing you to find the "heat" in your personal story. Bring pen and paper and leave armed with a basic outline, questions to further your work, and options for a solo performance piece that will support your vision and perhaps your pocketbook. What:  CTC sponsored a Forum for area writers and folks looking to create one-person and other kinds of shows.  Led by area writer Linda Eisenstein, the conversation served as a starting place for exploring ways in which CTC can meet the needs of writers with reading series, etc.

Meet and Greet with Michael Bloom

The Cleveland Theater Collective and The Cleveland Play House co-sponsored an intimate meet and greet with CPH’s new Artistic Director Michael Bloom, on August the 30th at 7:00 pm in the Play House Club. The Play House Club is located in the Cleveland Play House complex, located at 8500 Euclid Ave, right next to the Cleveland Clinic.

Mr. Bloom has directed at many of the country's major theatres, including American Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, South Coast Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, Alley Theatre, Alliance Theatre Company, Long Wharf Theatre, and the Sundance Theatre Institute. Internationally, he’s directed productions for Geki Shobo, Inc. and the Aoyama Theatre in Tokyo. He  shared his vision for revitalizing America’s first regional theater, and took  time to answer CTC member questions. There were hors d’oeuvre’s and a cash bar. This event was free to all members of the Cleveland Theater Collective.

 

GENERAL AUDITIONS


The Cleveland Theater Collective once again co-sponsored the general auditions held by the Cleveland Play House and Great Lakes Theater Festival. 20 small professional theaters in the northeast Ohio area, along with theaters in Columbus and Pittsburgh, were  invited to send auditors to the general auditions.

 

31 HOURS FOR ISSUE 31

On February 19th at 10:00 am Cleveland area artists gathered at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to perform for 31 straight hours in support of issue 31.  Artists included: David Hansen, Great Lakes Theater Festival, The Cleveland Play House, Cabaret Dada, Cats on Holiday, Vanity Crash and a host of others. 

CTC FORUM WITH TCG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BEN CAMERON:

CTC Held an open forum on the state of the Theater on February 19th, 2004 at Cleveland Public Theater.   Theater Communications Group Executive Director Ben Cameron shared his thoughts on where Theater is headed with an audience of about 75 theater professionals and students.
