CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - 10 Minute Plays

12th Annual One Act Festival
Hot from the Oven: a la carte
The Fine Arts Association will once again showcase original, never been published 10-minute plays in our 12th Annual One Act Festival - Hot from the Oven: a la carte in February/March 2008 as part of the 2007-2008 Performance Season.
Submissions of original ten-minute plays are currently being accepted at The Fine Arts Association. Submission deadline is Monday, September 17,
2007. All submissions will be considered. The number of plays to be
produced will be at The Fine Arts Association's discretion and will
depend on the mix of qualified submissions. Original plays accepted
for the Festival will be announced on or about November 5, 2007. The plays selected will be given full production within the capabilities and budget of The Fine Arts Association. There will be no monetary stipend for plays used in the Festival.
Festival Submission Guidelines
Submission Guidelines -
- Submissions must be original, unpublished, unproduced 10-minute plays. Plays that have had staged readings will be accepted. Plays that have received full productions, either professional or amateur, will not be accepted. Legal clearance of materials not in the public domain is the full responsibility of the playwright.
- No limit to number of plays submitted by each playwright.
- Maximum Length: 10 pages.
- Scripts must be comedy or drama. Not open to musicals.
- Set and technical requirements must be minimal. Only standard
furniture and minimal props will be available for the production.
- Plays must be typed/word-processed, pages numbered, & securely bound with a cover page containing the following: Title, your name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
- All play submissions will be handled with care. However, The Fine Arts Association assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged scripts.
Mailing Guidelines:
- Send submission to: Ann Hedger, Ten Minute Plays, The Fine Arts
Association, 38660 Mentor Ave., Willoughby, Ohio 44094.
- Mailed submissions must be postmarked by September 17, 2007 to be considered for the Festival.
- If you mail your script and would like it returned, include an S.A.S.E. with your submission. If no S.A.S.E. is included, your script will be recycled. The timeframe for return of scripts is at the convenience The Fine Arts Association.

- Submissions may be e-mailed to ahedger@fineartsassociation.org and should include the full contact information (your name, address, phone number and e-mail address). E-mail submissions must be received by The Fine Arts Association by Monday, September 17, 2007 to be considered.
Selection Information:
- Selections will be made by The Fine Arts Association Performance Department and inclusion in the festival is solely at their discretion.
- All submitting playwrights will be contacted by e-mail about the status of their submission after November 5, 2007.

Cleveland Public Theatre - The Dark Room (co-production of Cleveland Theater Collective) – monthly, 1 st Tues.; Derek Koger, director- Little Box – staged readings of new works by area writers throughout the year; Christopher Johnston, director- Big Box – annual festival of new work in Jan.-Feb. – proposals from area artists- Frequently mounts full productions of work by area artists, especially those who have been associated with CPT through one of its programs
Cleveland Play House- Playwrights’ Unit – 8 area writers who meet biweekly for readings of their work-in-progress; Seth Gordon, director- FusionFest – May/June, 6-8 readings of new works; Seth Gordon, director
Great Lakes Theater Festival - Annual Surround Community Outreach – many local playwrights have been commissioned to create a touring work; Daniel Hahn, Director of Education
